How It Works

how microneedling works collagen induction dermapen

Microneedling induces collagen to create tightening of skin.

It rejuvenates, firms the skin and evens out the surface texture and color by causing damage to the skin.  This damage causes the skin to heal, inducing collagen which tightens the skin.

Microneedling is done by using small pins to poke the surface layer of the skin in an organized manner. These small pokes cause tiny abrasions within the skin, which leads to the production of collagen-rich tissue to replace within the older skin with abrasions. Collagen is the main structural protein found within the skin and other connective tissue. It acts as a scaffold to provide strength and structure. Newer tissue is richer in collagen, and healthier (more even in tone and texture). Hence, why the production of new skin is triggered by micro-needling. A topical anesthetic is applied 30 minutes to one- hour before the procedure to reduce the chances of pain. The microneedling process itself takes about 30 minutes, after which a calming serum or ointment is applied to the skin. The process should not take longer than 2 hours in total.

Nano needling doesn't require a topical anesthetic and can be done weekly to create that "glow" effect.

What does microneedling do?

Microneedling is a technique that experts use to puncture your skin through numerous tiny pins, induce collagen in your damaged, scarred skin to remodel the broken skin, and slow down the process of skin aging.

Collagenases enzymes produced by our own skin are at peak every two weeks, using the right collagen induction technique at the right time helps collagenases to take care of excessive collagen and guide through the remodeling of the skin.

What are the benefits of microneedling?

Microneedling is helpful in treating the acne scars, sun spots or aging spots, wrinkles, fine lines, large pores, uneven skin tone as well as helps to reduce the elasticity of the skin. With regular microneedling sessions conducted as per the need of the skin and under all required safety and precision of the technique, you will see long term results on the condition of your skin.

Contrary to the results of facials, polishers, etc. the results of microneedling are long term and far more beneficial for every age group. The before-after microneedling pictures of many skin experts and their customers show miraculous results, and one feels the urge to go for the treatment.

However, it might not be feasible for everyone to go for assisted sessions and spend about $100 to $700 per session of microneedling. It can be costly for some, can be time constraint for others so the alternative is to get your own microneedling device and do it at home.
